COSTUMES IN GOOD ORDER?

Please make sure you clean (and repair if needed) all costumes so that when they are returned after the next eisteddfod they will be in good condition.  Also, please let me know if there are any parts missing so they may be replaced in plenty of time for their next use / owner.

DRESSING ROOM NEWS - JUNE 2009

Congratulations to all for a much calmer and swearing-free dressing room at Ipswich Eisteddfod.  I know there are times when we all get tired, frustrated and stressed (especially at eisteddfod time), but it is important to think about where you are and who’s around before you say something naughty.  Everyone made an effort to improve their dressing room behaviour at Ipswich, and it was a much more pleasant environment for all, so thank you.

Well done also to the 15’s and 20’s who trialed a virtually parent-free dressing room which worked very well and taught the students to work together and help each other.  One student commented on how much extra space there was in the dressing room and how quiet it was.

As we all know, children talk to their parents the worst out of all the people they know, so here’s a suggestion to combat this:  Try swapping children with another family for the day.  This may result in better behaved children and a much more enjoyable eisteddfod for everyone.

EISTEDDFOD ETIQUETTE - 2009

Just a quick reminder to all, that even though we do very well at eisteddfods, I would like everyone to stay humble and not make bad remarks about other dancing studios.  Keep any nasty comments about anyone (including those from our own studio) to yourself, and please parents, remember that children are impressionable and easily influenced, so it is important that you don’t say anything untoward in front of your children (nor other people’s children for that matter).

Thank you

Miss J

THANKS ARE DUE - 2009

Congratulations to all involved in the eisteddfods so far this year, as we were very successful once again.  This is a direct reflection on everyone involved….

A big thank you must go to the parents for all the behind-the-scenes work they do, and to all the dancers for their hard work and dedication.  I hope they all enjoy the eisteddfods as much as I do.

A BIG BIG thank you to all teachers involved – especially Miss Yana.

We couldn’t do it without everyone’s involvement, so once again, congrats and thanks to all.

Twin Towns Eisteddfod

ARE YOU READY?

Twin Towns is now only a few days away.  Have you checked that all your costumes are complete, clean, ironed (if necessary) and packed ready to go?  Are your shoes all freshly painted to cover those unsightly scuff marks?

Make sure you have everything, or notify Miss J immediately if anything is missing, so that a replacement item may be sourced as soon as possible.

Here’s a few things to check for:

Costumes - tops, pants, skirts, jackets, leotards, unitards, demitards, hats & headpieces, jewellery, arm bands etc

Props - canes etc

Shoes - ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, chorus etc

Hair - wigs, bobby pins, bun nets, hairspray/gel/mousse, brush, comb

Make-up - foundation, powder, blush, eyeshadow (correct colours), eyeliner, mascara, false eyelashes (for seniors), glitter, lipstick (is it red enough?)

Other Make-Up Kit Items - safety pins in various sizes, hat pins, stockings (fiestas, ballet, fishnets, etc with NO holes or ladders), socks, toe thongs, earrings

In Case Of Emergency Items - clear nail polish (for ladders), sewing repair kit, spare stockings, spare ribbons (for ballet shoes), spare elastic

Optional Items That May Come In Handy - sticky tape, glue, velcro (any adhesive really), make-up / baby wipes are excellent for removing make-up, cotton balls, cotton buds

Remember, it’s a loooooooooong drive home if you forget anything!!!!
